the hypocrisy of the "sanctity of life" doctrine

Beitrag von klsaurian »

It's ironical that religious people condemn suicide with the
argument of the "sanctity of life" - indeed, they think life is only sacred
in times of PEACE. But such times were rather the exception in the history
of monotheistic religions - ever since the time of the Bible (whose
text is half full of wars and slaughters) until now, the leaders of
monotheistic religions liked very much people to kill each other in
the name of a certain interpretation of God's Will..

Khomeini is the most dramatic example: he asked for rivers
of blood to be spilled so that he came to power, then he sent millions
of teenagers to die into a useless war. But if one had asked him "why
is suicide wrong?", he would have no doubt answered "because life is
sacred, suicide is a sin against Allah, life is a gift of Allah and
only Allah has the power to take it". Leaders of the other
monotheistic religions have said and done similar things throughout
history........

Still, it is precisely these religious people, who have always
trigerred wars and slaughters, who are the most opposed to suicide as
a personal freedom....I guess the reason why they condemn suicide is
precisely because they want people to be motivated to kill each
other....
