Szaszian arguments for free death

Beitrag von klsaurian »

In the hope that the ideas of Thomas Szasz might interest someone: Szasz (who has been a lifelong critic of psychiatry and of the concept of "mental illness") wrote in 2005 a book arguing for the freedom to die, yet opposed to Euthanasia as medicalization of this freedom. His book can be bought here

I mentioned Thomas Szasz because, in the recent debate about the right to die of the mentally ill, it should be noted IMO that NOT EVERYONE ACCEPTS THE EXISTENCE OF MENTAL ILLNESS. Szasz has been for decades the most important philosopher (with a psychiatric background) who does not accept it, so his point of view should be taken into account by those who advocate (or are opposed) to the right to die of the "clinically depressed" and so on.
